Brad Bonanza

I love brads, and I'm not talkin' Brad Pitt, though he is pretty yummy, especially in the movie Troy. Who knew a guy could look so good in a leather skirt? And those arms. Oh, those arms...

Wait. Where was I? Oh, yeah, brads, with an "s." Do you want some new decorative brads? Well, you're in luck. I've been cleaning out my craft space and have some delicious brads in need of new homes. Brads from such fine companies as American Crafts, Doodlebug Design, Making Memories and more!

How to Win
To win a Brad Bag (AKA grab bag o' brads), simply leave me a comment between now and Monday, March 16 that has something to do with brads. It can be your favorite way to use 'em, your preferred method of storage, anything. From the comments I receive, I'll randomly select three winners. Easy as pie!

It's a Brad Bonanza
Now, let's talk storage. There are lots of ways to organize brads, from baskets and bins to drawers and jars. But have you heard of Brad Boards? I hope not, because I'd like to think this idea is a Megan Original. Check out my most recent post on the CK blog for more on this fresh, easy and affordable way to store brads. It's far from the PITTs, I promise. ;)

I have used brads on cards, but my favorite way to use them is to attach little bits of dds artwork to scrapbook pages. She likes it because it looks like it has been hung up with pins on a cork board.

Thanks for the chance to add some brads to my dwindling supplies.

I LOVE to attach vellum and paper with brads. I think brads can be so whimsical and add fun to a layout or card.

I still store mine in the watch maker tins from eons ago... its working for me :)

I don't think I have a favorite way to use them. I've used them to hold down a folded corner, attach vellum, or just as a deco element of their own they are very versitile.

Whoa....way to get a girl daydreaming about Brad Pitt! Makes me want to pop TROY into the DVD player for a couple of hours of man meat mania! Way too many yummy men in that movie.

As far as brad storage....I don't have a real good method, as in I usually keep them in the original package. I love using brads on my layouts and cards though. I like to add a little splash of color in unexpected places on my projects.

Thanks for the chance to win!!!!

Your brad board idea is fabulous!! I can't wait to make my own.

The last time I added brads to a page I used my Bazzil stitchin' template to mark the spots and instead of stitching I put brads in the holes. This especially works well with the circle template.

I have a tackle box that has brads from one manufactor and I have a little glass jar on my desk for the decorative ones from another manufactor.

I love the little pop of color that a brad can add to a project! Thanks for the chance at a giveaway!

I use brads to hold ribbon & vellum, to add a touch of color by a photo, as flower centers, about any way I can think of....I LOVE them!! Your idea of storing them has to be the most unique way that I have ever seen. The ones that I have are stored in the original containers in a drawer. Hopefully you'll pick me so I can give your idea a try.

My favorite way to see bigger or decorated brads are in the centre of a flower. I also put them on the sides (by 3's) of my LO's.
I usually keep them in their packaging or the smaller ones in these little jars usually used for beads.
I do love the idea of the cork boards and Love trips to IKEA! :)
Thanks for the tutorial.

I think I use brads on almost every layout and card. I love to use them as the centers of flowers to hold them on the page or card. I store mine in the little plastic boxes that are like fishing tackle boxes and I sort them by size and shape. Thanks for your giveaway!! That is awesome and I LOVE LOVE LOVE your corkboard idea.

I use the Craft-Mates holders. That way I can only open one section at a time and spill.

I LOVE using brads all the time. They always add that little tiny "something" to the page.

I love to use brads to hold together the center for my ribbon flowers I make!

Nicole said...

I used to store all my brads and eyelets seperately and organized by color. I found though I wasn't using them alot. So one day I when reorganizing and rearranging my scrap area I dumped all of them into a container, brads and eyelets mixed. At first I thought I was crazy, but for some reason I seem to use them much more now than I ever did before. Funny how that works you know.
Have a great day.

I got so totally distrected by your Brad.........uh, brads, that I can't think straight anymore.

I'm better now. (Took a couple of deep cleansing Brad..........uh, breaths and now I'm fine, I think!)

I love to use brads for anything: attach pieces together, sometimes so they can move, sometimes because it just looks good with Brad (there goes my mind again! Focus, focus.....)

Anyhoo, I just love brads. (Yes, I made it!)

i do love brads! and i usually keep my tiny brads in segregated bins, the fancier brads stay on the packaging for protection and identification. I like those brad boards, especially hung up, so pretty. and I really like the idea of using spare rubber from su! stamps as dimensional adhesive. good idea!

Gotta love everything Brad, oh wait, brads!!! LOL!! I store mine in old spice jars and in one of those containers normally used in the garage to store screws, nails etc. The ones with all those great little drawers. Thanks for all your ideas!

I still have a lot of my brads in the old watchmaker tins too. The ones that come on foam backing I just leave. Like the cork squares idea.

I store my brads in small containers similar to TicTac boxes. They fit into a larger plastic box and it so easy to take to crops with me. As for my favorite use, I love the idea someone already posted.....using a Bazzill Stitching Template as a guide. Definately will be trying that! Thanks for the brad board tutorial - I think it would be great to use for the larger brads (think Imaginisce or Around The Block big brads)

Cool idea for the brad board! I store mine in a a couple of clear divided plastic containers - I know MM carries them, but I just bought mine from the Target dollar spot a while back.
Before brads, I used to use eyelets (what a pain!). Love that brads are the perfect accent to spice up a LO or card project.

I find myself hoarding them too much, especially those that are not silver or gold.

I use brads for everything that needs to be connected. Recently, my daughter was making a book of animals for school. She drew a cover and many pages of animal facts. Then we had to put the book together and instead of the traditional stapler, she used brads. Love the boards, btw :o) Left you a comment on the CK Blog.

I have crazy storage for may brads. Two years ago I raised little green tree frogs in my classroom from eggs/tadpoles that I scooped out of my pool at the end of the summer.
I had to order fruit fly growing kits and they came with glass jars and foam stoppers. I have since released the tree frogs and the glass jars have been refurbished for brad/eyelet storage. I store by color and I have a little tag and ribbon tied around the top in the same color as the brads in the jar are.

Well firstly that brad bag is pure eye candy - MUCH more so than your friend Mr Pitt.

I really could use a little help organsing my brads. They aren't sorted into colour as I tend to like having the brands and sizes together, although a lot of them are by colour - mini AC ones for example.

My patterned ones are stored in a small drawer & are still on the foam pads they came on. I took the outer packaging away and wrote with a sharpie on the edge what they were (eg - BG Urban Prairie).

Would LOVE the cork mats as it would be great to display my fancy brads - they don't get used that often just now.

I can honestly say the "Brad Boards" is a definite first-heard for me, so that's a "Megan Original" in my book :) I absolutely love it, how clever, original and organised are you!! I adore brads and they're such fun to use, not to mention easy, but my only problem has always been that to find one I want I have to sift through all my tackle boxes where my brads are stored, i.e. open the lid and see what's inside to choose from, to find what I'm looking for! Such a hassle, waste of time and terrible organisation!

I would love one of your Brad Bags and get going on your idea making my own little Brad Boards a la Megan to hang up in my little corner! Imagine how easy it will be using brads on my future layouts then :) Yay!

I'd love more brads though! Life is pretty good when you're biggest problem is where to put more brads.

I love brads. My primary use is on scrapbooking layouts attaching them on flowers, chipboard, felt, or simply on the paper. I have also used them on gift bags, chipboard, acrylic altered projects...I have decorated curtains, headbands, hats and towels with these babies..yup...I love brads.

Your idea is fabulous! I need to try that. I love brads. They come in so many shapes, colors, etc and add lots to your page. My favorite way to use them is as flower centers. I also like to use them to attach journaling or title blocks to my pages.

Brads in anyform craft or Manly are a staple around here. I seem to use them and ribbon the most in my crafting because they are simple and perfect for each project. I would love some Megan handy down brads for sure. Love your blog, love your style. SHAR

I store my brads two ways.....one by color in small little containers and two in a small tin so I can poke around and find what I want.

First, I want to say I absolutely love your brad storage idea!

The way I store my brads is by color, in little circular metal tins with clear lids so I can easily access them and see what is in there. One day when I get my shelf built they will go in there sideways so I can see into them without effort. :)

Just found your blog from the crafty storage site - what a great idea for brad storage and pretty too! Love the one that you did as a picture frame with pink ribbon! I think I'll have to try this!

I am a Bradaholic.... I admit it.... When I´m not using them on cards, I spend my time staring at them, drooling a little bit and reorganice them.... (Which reminds me, I haven´t taken my pills today....)

Maybe, if Ikea wasn´t an 8 hours drive away, my reorganicing days would be over! And by hanging them on the wall, I wouldn´t have to get that terrible pain in my neck from looking into their litte storing boxes! And they wouldn´t become all wet and rusty by me drooling over them! Ahhhhh.... Sweet dreams are made of this..... (Not to mention Brad Pitt..... Ohh.. He would be great for chores around the house, so that I could spend my time with my brad collection.... hehehehe)

Can you believe I don't even have any brads!!!??? I've just started building my embellishments stash and haven't used brads before on a layout. They look awesome and I would love to win them! *fingers crossed*

recently, my most fav way to use brads are as centers to flowers. Whether it's Prima type flowers or flowers made with tissue paper, DP, etc, the brads as centers are great. Plus side, is that it's easy to attach the card/scrap page. Brads are the best (and so is Brad Pitt!).

I store my brads in a 2 drawer plastic container. I just starting using them this past year. They sure do add the finishing touch in the cards :)

I store my embellishments by color in craftmates lock-able clear containers. When I need a pink embellishment I pick up the pink box flip it over and look through the bottom until I find what I think will work and then open only that part of the container. Love these because there is never spillage and they are easy to travel with to crops. But you are right I am getting some of my bigger brads and specialty items scratched. I'm wondering right now where I can find room in my studio for your brad storage system!

I love this storage idea. Currently, I store them in jewelry storage containers. I like to use them as centers for flowers or on tags as pull tabs.
