Mom called me Saturday morning. The conversation started as most do, with her asking how I am, followed by a little chitchat. Then her tone changed, and she said, “I have to tell you something.” I immediately knew it wasn’t good, and I was right.
Mom has breast cancer.
I don’t know very many details yet, only that she had a biopsy that came back positive for this scary disease. As you can imagine, this is a difficult thing for our family, so I'm writing to ask for your support.

If you’re a praying person, please include my dear Mom in your prayers. Prayers to God, Buddha, Allah, or just the universe in general…we’re not biased.
If you have first-hand experience with this disease (and I pray that you don’t), your advice (in comments, please; I don’t really feel like talking right now) would be very much appreciated.
I know this goes without saying, but I’m going to say it anyway: life is fragile. Hug your loved ones a little tighter today and let them know what they mean to you. You never know when your phone might ring and change everything.

This is not good. My thoughts are with you and your mother. I hope that everything will be okay.
Meg, So sorry to hear the news! Your mom is in our prayers. My mom is a breast cancer survivor of almost 20 years now. My cousin just finished up treatment last month, and the prognosis is good. Please let us know if there is anything you need. Love you, sista!
I am so very sorry to learn of your news Megan, I will be keeping you, your mom & family in my thoughts and prayers.
(((hugs))) for you my friend.
several woman in my family are breast cancer survivors. I think the best thing you can do is to have positive thinking. Do not let your mind wander into your darkest thoughts. Your Mother is alive and living. I don't know you or your faith, but let the Lord lift you and your family up. There is immeasurable power in prayer.
Here are a few scriptures to bring you peace & strength. I will keep you and your Mother in my prayers.
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14:27
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
James 1:12

megan, my sweet tenderhearted friend. i ache for you and can't imagine. i pray for your peace of mind and heart as well as your mama's health. oh, honey...
Meg-I was a shocked as you were to hear the news. Peggy is not only my mother in law, but the closest thing I have to a Mom on this side of the Mason Dixon. Whatever it takes we will get through this as a family. I have asked everyone I know to pray for her or put her on their prayer list. Peggy is a strong person who is determined to beat this while still maintaining her signature sense of humor.

Meg, hey babe. My gran called and told me. I didn't want to bother you yet. Let me know what you need, okay? You're my sister mare than you know who, so we have to stick together! love you -vicki
Reading this post brought back a flood of memories for me. You'll feel everything in a more magnified way (let the feelings happen). Treatment will sometimes be worse than the disease (in the long run, it's not). Some days you'll want to scream in anger to the universe (do it).
The only advice I can offer is to keep a journal, a small notebook, with you at all times. Capture your thoughts and questions -- both for the doctors and for your mom. I guarantee your mind will go to those dark places and you'll end up wanting intensely to get an answer to something that seems obscure or trivial. The resulting conversation will be a treasure.
Thoughts, prayers and love will be with you, my friend.
We just want to add our thoughts, prayers, and well wishes to everyone elses. Love you.
Prayers and Positive thoughts are being sent your Mom's way (and of course for you and your loved ones too) What a very scary news and I pray that you will all have the love and support that will help you through this difficult time. I will be thinking about you sweet friend
((((hugs))))
