Since this day holds a special place in my heart, I want to celebrate it in a big way. For starters, I’m sharing this Celebrate card. Like my projects in previous posts, this one was created with a cupcake liner that I cut down and adhered to a doily. The center of the fair ribbon is a second liner, which has been spirally wrapped to create a flower. (Thanks, Cindy Tobey, for the idea!) The next time I make a card like this, I'm going to adhere the fair ribbon to a pin so it can be removed and worn by the person doing the celebrating!
Speaking of celebrating, I'm going to my monthly card group tonight, where we’ll honor this hobby we love by exchanging handmade greetings. We each bring a dozen of the same greeting, and we swap them, leaving with 12 unique cards. Fun! I’ll be sure to post all of the cards from this event on here soon.
And what would a party be without a giveaway? I want to celebrate with you by awarding three lucky winners with a big box of paper crafting goodies. To enter into my random drawing, simply leave a comment on this post, stating what it is you love about creating or receiving handmade cards. From the comments received between now and next Saturday, Oct. 9, I’ll select my winners.
Happy World Card Making Day!
As a card maker, I know the time and effort involved. So I truly appreciate it when someone makes a card for ME!
I love finding funny sayings and cute jokes to make people smile for their birthday. thanks for sharing!
I love making cards and designing it to fit the person's personality.
if I need a card I can usually whip one up in a short period of time without going to the store and buying it. And it's seems it's appreciated more.
I love receiving handmade cards for the same reason that I love making them: they're so personal, and I know each one is made with love!
Happy WCMD and happy crafting! :)
I love the extra something that goes into a handmade card - it's personal, not something generic from the store.
I like how happy it makes someone when I make a card specifically for them.
I hope it's not too late to enter. I totally love making cards. It is therapeutic after a hectic day of chasing my 3 children! What a great blog....I just discovered it!
There's just something lovely about receiving a card in the mail. The surprise when you open the mailbox and a card or letter drops out that isn't a bill or advertisement, but something personal, letting you know that someone thought of you. I love putting that smile on people's faces.
I love putting corny little sayings on my cards. and I love recieving handmade cards because they are super inspiring if you ask me. :)
I love to make cards for a few reasons. I love to give cards, as I believe a handmade card with a beautiful message to the recipient is a great gift (I love to get cards for the same reason!). I also love to make cards as it's a great way to express my creativity and I get instant creative gratification :)
I love seeing the joy on someone's face when I give them a handmade card by me. It just means so much more to ppl then a card from the store, and its great to notice that ppl really do appericate the small things in life.
P.S. - You know when u go to a big celebration (baby shower, sweet 16, bridal shower) you always see like 4 of the same card (while their opening gifts you say to yourself "I hope one got the same card as me"), ever since I started makin cards I never had to worry about that again. :)
The best part about getting a handmade card used to be thinking about how much time the creator put in, all for me. NOW, the best part is looking at the products and ideas and techniques to see what new things I can incorporate.
I love being able to create something that fits the personality of my family and friends.
I love giving hand made cards because they stay on display longer than store bought cards. They are treated like art instead of just a card. I always carefully pick what to make for my mom for that reason. It's like art getting displayed on the fridge again- but I'll all grown up!
Well how awesome are you :) Well for me its my way of expressing myself nothing like sharing what you love is what I say. I also love being able to teach people that they can do it to. Its super rewarding to see the smile of someones face when they finish their first card. Priceless :)
I love to find a way to share what makes me happy with others-they know I love to craft and by giving my crafting to others it lets them know that I took time out to do something special and personalized just for them.
I love when people see mail and instantly know that a card is for them. I try to be as expressive with my envelopes as I am with my cards. When I make cards, I usually leave the sentiment blank & then when the occasion comes, I can stamp whatever is apprpriate onto the card. Then I'm more apt to get it out in the mail right away. That give me a sense of accomplishment and of being a good friend. Making the cards fulfills my creative needs. Then being able to share someones else's burden or their joy is just an added blessing.
I love creating cards and receiving created cards for the same reason - It gives me an opportunity to remember all of the shared experiences I have with that person.
Hi Megan! I had to leave a comment cause i just think that this week is SOOOOOO COOL! Making and receiving homemade cards is so exciting because you really know some thought has been put into it and a little bit of heart! It really is special to get something home made! Have a great day girl! :)
I love showing friends and family how much I care by making handmade cards for them.
I love that homemade cards are very personal---usually mine are made with that person in mind.
I love making cards. Lately I have been experimenting with the cuttlebug embossing folders, inks, and embossing powders.
I love all the pretty supplies you can use to make handmade cards, and receiving a handmade card is always so nice to know that someone made that card just for you.
