When not using your camera, be sure it's in the case. I had mine stomped on and ruined by an unruly child once at a soccer game...not happy!

You can "hide" from kids by using a telephoto lens. The pics might not be glamor shots, but they will be candid moments that you will be gems later on!

The tripod is my best friend when it comes to my camera and using natural light. I can use a slow shutter speed and soak in all that sunny goodness that makes my projects look their best!

WOW! what a great giveaway!

my favorite tip is to just keep clicking. you never know what you are going to get. i stopped looking for the 'perfect' shot a long time ago...as kids will do that. ;) and to have fun! know that these are YOUR memories you are catching!!!

Project 365 has been the best--I have my camera with me everywhere, and I am practicing and experimenting with shots I never would have considered because I need a photo every day! Thank you!

When we go on vacation, I take a long an imexpensive digital point and shoot. Then each day I "assign" one of the kids to be the back-up photographer. I get some interesting things...and I actually get candid photos of MYSELF, which is nice, since I am usually the one behind the camera.

Don't miss a shot. Carry your camera with you everywhere. I keep it in my purse and never regret it. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't take a picture.

Don't forget those candid shots!! I was in such a rut with trying to get everyone to "POSE AND SAY CHEESE"... some of my BEST photos are the ones when your subject doesn't know you are photographing them, they have "real" smiles and personality just shines through!!

Zoom in! I love detail shots, so zooming in is a favorite tip of mine. I've taken some really close up shots of my children when they were babies, and I am so glad I did. I miss their chubby little baby cheeks that were captured so well in the photos! :)

Just keep taking pictures until you get the shot right. It takes practice and in the digital era there is no reason to stop trying new things to find the picture you love.

Download your pictures frequently! Don't rely on your camera card to always be there... I've learned this the hard way.
Thanks for the chance to win such a beautiful strap! :)

OOoh - pick me Megan - that strap looks awesome!! My tip -- I keep my camera with me at all times - I hate to miss out on opportunities or cute things my kids are doing so I am always prepared. Plus, I take a bunch of pics, that way I am more likely to get one good one!

Just wanted to say go you for making those cute straps! My best tip is to get down (or up) on your subjects level and fill the frame. It really makes the difference between a snapshot and a scrap worthy photo.

P.S. Don't include me in the giveaway...I have made way too many of these to count! :-)

My tip would be to play with the white balance and get it off of the "auto" setting. I am amazed that I can get a more natural looking shot if I just take a minute to change the setting.

Do a photo shoot in your own house. I hung a sheet on the wall in a corner and put a matching sheet on the floor. I got out the tripod and clicked away. The pics turned out quite well.

I always carry my point and shoot camera in my purse so I'm always ready to take pictures.

Here's my tip for taking pics of kids...bark at them. LOL! It works every time. Oh, and don't just say "Woof", actually bark like a dog. They love it!

Oh, and when taking pics of adults, tell them to smile and pretend they like each other. It'll make them laugh and you'll get natural smiles.

I love shooting at the level of my kids. It gives a great perspective of what they see. It just makes me happy. Oh and no flash!!

Keep a camera on you at all times.
Shoot, shoot, shoot, that's the only way to get better! Well, that coupled with reading and learning!

Take lots of pictures, and frequently. Life is too short to not capture the moments with your loved ones.

Hi Megan! The strap is great!
Tip: I keep my battery charger in my purse along with my camera at all times. It is frusterating to have your camera go dead just in the middle of capturing those great vacation photos and no battery charger handy!

If you have a DSLR, put a filter on the end of your lense. It can be a clear one--no matter. It's better to have the filter break on the lense that your actual lense glass. Much cheaper to replace the filter!

i like to get low (close to the ground) and shoot up, makes for some great shots. i just like to change perspetive/angles to add interest to my photos.

I organize our photos chronologically. I have a folder for each year, and in each year folder are twelve monht folders where I store the pictures from that month. If there is a big even in a month, I will make a special event folder within the month folder.

Picasa and GIMP are my {free!} best photo friends!!!

I don't know if it is a tip, but I download/edit/order my pics weekly so they never pile up (and I am always afraid I will do something to my memory card & lose them). Love the BG fabric straps! Kristi B
